Day-by-Day Itinerary 7 Days Big Five Safaris In Tanzania
Day 1: Transfer from Kilimanjaro Airport to Arusha
Your journey begins at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Our team will meet you the moment you step off the plane, handling every detail so you can focus on the transition from the modern world to the wild. The first night in Arusha at the Tulia Boutique Hotel & Spa serves as a vital “buffer day” to shake off jet lag and prepare for the dust and drama of the coming week.
The Arrival Protocol
Arriving a day early in Arusha allows your body to acclimate to the 1,400-meter altitude, ensuring you are fully energized for the 6:00 AM departure into the bush.

- Transfer From Jro Airport

Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park to Karatu
After a hearty breakfast, we drive three hours to Tarangire. While the Serengeti gets the fame, Tarangire holds the heart of many seasoned guides. It is home to the highest concentration of elephants in North Tanzania. During the dry season, the Tarangire River becomes a literal “wildlife pageant” where thousands of animals congregate.
Tarangire’s Unique Edge
Tarangire is the best place in East Africa to witness complex elephant social behaviors, with herds often exceeding 300 individuals moving through ancient, “upside-down” baobab forests.
Pro-Tip: Look for the “Small Five” here too—Ant Lion, Leopard Tortoise, Elephant Shrew, Rhino Beetle, and Buffalo Weaver. It’s a fun way to engage younger travelers.
The Lunch Spot: We prefer the Silale Swamp picnic area. From here, you can watch buffalo and elephants wallow in the mud while you enjoy your meal.

Day 3 & 4: Into the Heart of the Serengeti
The drive from Karatu into the Serengeti is a rite of passage. As you crest the Ngorongoro Highlands and descend into the “Endless Plains,” the scale of Africa truly hits you. We base ourselves at Tukaone Serengeti Camp in the Central Seronera region.
The Serengeti Predator Cycle
Central Serengeti provides year-round water, making it a permanent residence for large lion prides and the highest density of leopards, who favor the yellow-fever acacia trees along the river.
Luxury vs. Authentic Bush Camp Comparison
| Feature | Tukaone Serengeti Camp (Authentic) | High-End Luxury Lodge |
| Soundscape | Unfiltered night sounds (Hyenas/Lions) | Soundproofed glass walls |
| Location | Inside the park, close to action | Often on the park periphery |
| Vibe | “Out of Africa” canvas intimacy | Modern hotel amenities |
DAY ACTIVITIES
- Morning Guided Game Drive at Ngorongoro Highlands
- Serengeti Central Game Drive

Day 5: The Ngorongoro Crater – Nature’s Amphitheater
This is the day many travelers wait for their entire lives. The Ngorongoro Crater is a collapsed volcano that has created a self-sustaining ecosystem. It is one of the few places on Earth where you can see all the Big Five in a single morning.
The Rhino Quest
The Ngorongoro Crater floor is the most reliable location in Tanzania to spot the critically endangered Black Rhino, as the steep walls provide a natural fortress against poaching.
The Early Bird Advantage: We leave the lodge at 5:30 AM. Being the first vehicle at the crater gate means you witness the predators when they are most active, before the midday heat sends them into the shade.

Day 6: Lake Manyara Game Drive to Arusha
Before returning to Arusha, we explore Lake Manyara. This park is a complete contrast to the plains—it’s lush, green, and mysterious.
The Canopy Experience
Lake Manyara offers a rare Treetop Walkway, allowing you to walk among the birds and monkeys at eye level, providing a perspective of the groundwater forest rarely seen by visitors.

EXCELLENT Based on 2 reviews Posted on Godson GVerified Great Experience with Tanzania Safari Experience We had an amazing safari with Tanzania Safari Experience, and honestly the whole trip was put together really well by Laurent and his team. From our first message to the last day, they were easy to reach, quick to reply, and clear about everything. The plan made sense, the timing was smooth, and we didn’t have to stress about anything. Uncle J was a big part of what made it special. He knows the parks incredibly well and seems to notice things before anyone else. He’d position the vehicle perfectly for photos and often got us to sightings before the crowds built up. We were lucky to see [your highlights: migration / lions / cheetahs / elephants / a crossing], and every drive felt exciting and different. The vehicle was comfortable and in good shape, and everything ran on schedule. If you’re looking for a well-organized safari with a great guide, I’d definitely recommend Tanzania Safari Experience.Posted on Chris HVerified An absolutely brilliant tour / travel company What can I say. How do you explain PERFECTION. I will try. From the outset of our trip Ramadhan and Laurent were excellent. We gave them our requirements and budget and they prepared a program that was outstanding. The whole safari went like clockwork. We were met and briefed by Ramadhan on our arrival and introduced to our driver and guide extraordinar Ngoi. We visited Tarangier, Serengeti, Ngorongoro and the Ngorongoro Crater and Zanzibar. Absolutely brilliant trip, we saw the most extraordinary game. All the accommodation arranged for us was magnificent, especially the tented camps, where we were visited by a lion and elephant, scary but exhilarating. So if you are looking for an unforgettable experience look no further than Laurent and Ramadhan from Tanzania Safari Experience. They truly put clients first and foremost and deliver on their promises. While nature offers no absolute guarantees, this specific 7-day route (Tarangire to Serengeti to Ngorongoro) provides the highest statistical probability in Africa for a "clean sweep" of the Big Five.
While the animals are always in the Serengeti, the "Great Migration" typically moves through the Central Seronera area in May and June as they head north.
Most nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival at Kilimanjaro (JRO), but we strongly recommend applying for an E-Visa at least two weeks prior to avoid long queues. Official Tanzania Immigration E-Visa Portal
